Aquamarine

Aquamarine is the official birthstone for those born in March, with it’s name derived from an old Latin expression which meant ‘seawater’.

The Greeks and the Romans knew aquamarine as the sailor's gem, believing that it ensured a safe and prosperous passage across stormy seas. According to legend, aquamarines were the prized possessions of many mermaids and would thus protect sailors from the dangers of sea, including warding off sea-sickness.  Present day supporters of crystal-gazing suggest that when using an Aquamarine to view coming events, do so when the moon is increasing.

Associated with the throat chakra, it is said to help overcome fear of speaking and a great gift for teachers. It also is also said to allow one to speak clearly and without anger in difficult situations.
